Close your eyes, imagine that you're finally getting that road trip vacation you've always wanted. Windows are down, no cares in the world, and nothing could go wrong. You need the perfect playlist, or maybe just that perfect song. The Anchor Collective's "Pocketknife", is just the song to vibe to. Formed in 2014, The Anchor Collective is a spiritual folk rock group from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Their album, "Atlas", will be dropping on March 10th, 2017.
The song is freeflowing and free-spirited, every word reflecting a whimsical view of thoughts from both the mind and the heart. Stylistically, the song is reminiscent of a indie folk song all on it's own.
From what has been released so far, I believe that The Anchor Collective will go far in the scene. With the release of "Pocketknife", I'm all the more excited to hear what the rest of "Atlas" sounds like, especially with lyrics such as,
"when your limbs are broken
you prefer to set the bones yourself
your lips are tokens
you're giving away
my hands are folded
i'll never make my father's favorite shelf
the love is old + it whittles away."
Their release show is on March 10th at the Stache Drinking Den and Coffee Bar. It is a 21+ show and admission is free. The band will be sharing the stage with Del Pelson, an alternative pop band from Boca Raton.
If you are interested in keeping up with them, they do have social media that you can follow them on.
